Every second, aircrafts generator data that can be difficult to trace and even harder to analyse, from temperatures and vibrations to altitude and more.
We collaborated with Singapore Airlines to solve the core issue that pilots and engineers were struggling with: giving generated data a purpose to fly.

Planning optimal flight routes
To better understand how we could make the lives of pilots and engineers better and efficient, we conducted a co-design session to understand their viewpoints and their main concerns.
From the learnings, we were able to envision an app that not only made it easier to plan optimal flight routes, but also made pilot operations efficiently simple.

Flight safety planning
The app prepares pilots for their flights by providing key information they require to undergo the 7 phases of flight, from takeoff to landing, all while keeping track of their fuel efficiency. Pilots would also be able to get comprehensive weather reports and flight data 24 hours before each flight to ensure that it was safe for takeoff.
Through research, we identified the mindset that many pilots had with the precaution of fuel. In the past, more fuel meant that pilots were safe in the air. On the contrary, more fuel led to more wastage.

Reducing the risk of fuel
We built a tool that prevented pilots from dumping fuel in the air when they land, reducing wastage and conserving fuel where it’s needed most. The tool also studies other flights with the same trajectory, providing data on how much fuel the pilot is required to land.
We made data sharing between pilots, crew members and the copilot simpler and seamless, reduced risks between each landing, and made flights for pilots safer.

Built for safety and flight.
We built two conceptual prototypes for different sets of users: pilots and engineers, meeting our goal of improving efficiency, safety and operations through data.
