MIDF is a grant provider for small and medium enterprises, known for funding businesses to build the backbone of Malaysia’s economy. Relying on largely physical processes, MIDF wanted to reimagine their financing operations to match pace with the digital-native market.

Our goal was to build the first financial investment app for MIDF, a vital addition to transform their digital experience and provide a more inclusive platform for modern day investing.

All-in-one trading platform

Looking for opportunities to position MIDF Invest as a human-centered financial investment app, we began our explorative journey by identifying market gaps and crucial customer pain points. We found opportunities to transform the way MIDF’s internal team communicated via a series of workshops and stakeholder interviews.

With these frameworks in place, the MIDF Invest app was conceived with a strong focus on customer experience and scalability.

Designed for traders everywhere and anywhere

The goal of the app was to provide Malaysians with easy access to buy and sell on the US stock market. By adding the latest, trending market insights, we provided convenience for everyday citizens to buy and sell ETFs, as well as trade and invest in Shariah-compliant stocks.

Our team of engineers set forth to built and integrated together with SAXO Bank and MIDF’s preferred eKYC partner. The MIDF Invest app is optimised to meet the standards of regulatory compliance and data security, hosted in a hybrid model of both cloud and on premise.

We launched the mobile app successfully, pairing it alongside a microsite for flexible and seamless mobile-to-desktop transition.

Emerging from robust foundations

MIDF Invest’s development leaned on strong, reputable foundations from its parent brand MIDF, an established financial services provider that powered the growth of many local businesses since the 1950s. It would ultimately play a substantial role in developing the Malaysian economy.

Offering hassle-free grants and funding support, MIDF is a driving source of financing for businesses of all shapes and sizes. We reimagined MIDF’s website to match the needs of SMEs and large business owners, eliminating the need for physical paperwork processes such as accounts opening, applying for grants and other financing operations. All of this met the goals of modern day digital financing for business owners.

With MIDF, we built concise digital forms that people could easily access via the website, modernising MIDF’s web experience for both business owners and everyday folk looking to trade, invest, or manage their funds.
